Dizziness and Balance Disorder Clinic
The Dizziness and Balance Disorders Clinic offers a team of physical therapists who have received special training in the evaluation and treatment of dizziness.
The Balance Clinic features the state-of –the-art Smart Balance Master and inVision system which provide quantitative data to assess physical function, balance disorders, sensory deficits, mobility problems, assess gaze stabilization, dynamic visual acuity and can assist physicians with diagnosis.
From the onset of injury to recovery, the Smart Balance system evaluates and is used to train people of all ages with a range of balance, postural and mobility problems:
- Neurological: stroke, head injury, spinal cord injury, vestibular dysfunction, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis and peripheral neuropathy.
- Osteoporosis/Elderly: fall prevention training
- Orthopedic- knee, ankle, hip injury
- Sports medicine- facilitates the improvement of athletic performance by evaluating equilibrium.
Using an exercise approach, the Dizziness and Balance Disorders Clinic provides treatment to individuals with complaints including the following:
- Persistent motion-provoked dizziness
- Dizziness with head movement
- Vertigo following changes in body position(lying down or getting out of bed)
- Visual motion sensitivity
